When collection data exists, but the digital visitor experience is missing.
In our collaboration with museums, we repeatedly encounter a scenario: collections are already digitally recorded for internal processes, but are not accessible to the public.
SAMMLUNG+ makes this collection data accessible online and transforms it into a digital experience that meets the demands of modern museums.
The example of the LWL-Freilichtmuseum Detmold shows how this is achieved.

LWL-Freilichtmuseum Detmold
The LWL-Freilichtmuseum was looking for a solution that was based on the actual requirements of the institution. The following requirements were decisive:
Connection to existing systems
SAMMLUNG+ directly accesses the object data maintained in Axiell. The existing archive structure is retained, eliminating duplicate data maintenance. This way, the online collection is realized based on established processes, without changing internal workflows.
Individual adaptability
The design and structure of the online collection should be based on the museum’s corporate design. At the same time, content should be able to be further developed independently by employees without external help.
Cost and function control
The goal was to find a solution that clearly provides the necessary functions for creating an online collection. The modular structure of SAMMLUNG+ enabled a precisely tailored compilation of functions, thereby also creating control over resulting costs.
Based on this, the decision was made for SAMMLUNG+.

The project at the LWL-Freilichtmuseum Detmold is an exemplary case for many museums that want to make their existing collection data publicly accessible without additional data maintenance or interference with established work processes.
Project Process
In a first step, the appropriate modules were selected together and the design basis was defined. In parallel, the connection to the existing collection management system was set up.
After implementation, all functions of SAMMLUNG+ were available to the museum according to the defined requirements. The interface to Axiell is permanently functional and ensures automatic transfer of object data.
The museum can now directly access existing object data and add editorial content. It can create topic pages and interactive content and independently further develop the online collection.

Result
With SAMMLUNG+, the LWL-Freilichtmuseum Detmold has an online collection that builds on existing data. This way, the online collection is realized based on established processes, without changing internal workflows.
"SAMMLUNG⁺ helps us every day to make museum objects visible and accessible without having to interfere with storage in the museum depot. In this way, we make an important contribution to research and education within the framework of museum standards. In addition, the product offers excellent opportunities to contextualize the significance of the collection and creates a direct connection from the physical exhibition space to the digital realm. The decision to use gamification has clearly paid off – it enables us to open up our user base to many different age groups. Embarking on our journey to the finished product with such a solution-oriented and innovative team was definitely a 'foundation in code'."
